( once i had a canon muse whose fandom i didnt really want to rp with so i just slapped a crossover AU onto him and stuck him in the free!dom idk that could be a thing bc u play her hella rad )
that’s prolly what i’m gonna end up doing if i wanna keep her tbqh. like– omg okay there’s literally no good way to say this so i’m gonna put it under a readmore
i’m gonna sound like a really elitist bitch who cares more about the visual aspect of rping than the actual content so i can only hope i’ve proved not to be like that– i just…get the feeling that they don’t really put a lot of effort into it. i don’t wanna shit on anyone’s preferences but tumblr stock themes + no icons/fcs + no formatting to speak of feels a little…lazy, tbh.
now, i’m not saying that formatting is the most important thing ever for roleplayers, it’s about content – but let’s be honest here, your first impression of an RPer is undoubtedly gonna be visual. it’s gonna be their theme or their icons or their graphics, bc that’s what stands out, especially in the dash. i’m all up for content over graphics, but i also know that the visual aspect makes an impact, and just overall i like my things to look nice and pleasant to the eye.
and what i got from her fandom was…the opposite. like, if all i see are tumblr stock themes, tiled background images pulled straight from google, blinding colors, no graphics to speak of, no fcs, no formatting, no nothing– it feels like… honestly, to me, it feels like there’s no effort and like they don’t care. and i’ll be honest and say that put me off, bc i think the worst feeling as an rper is feeling like your partner doesn’t care.
i’m not saying you have to make your own themes or your own icons or use fancy borders and shit, i’m not saying you have to be the VERY BEST GRAPHIC MAKER EXTRAORDINAIRE EVER – but i’m saying that it shows when people make an effort.
this got really long and it feels like an excuse but i didn’t wanna come off as a jerk.
